What Are The Objectives Of Canada's Immigration Program?
Canada’s immigration program generally has three basic objectives:
- A social objective: by facilitating the reunification of Canadian citizens and residents with their close relatives through family reunification programs;
- An economic objective: to achieve strong demographics and economies in all regions of the country through economic immigration programs;
- A humanitarian objective consistent with its humanitarian tradition through the refugee program.
Which agencies are responsible for enforcing the Immigration Act?
Three federal organizations therefore play an important but different role in immigration to Canada :
- Immigration, Refugees, Citizenship Canada (IRCC) deals with applications submitted abroad, issues visas, work permits, study permits, processes humanitarian and compassionate applications and sponsorship applications.
- The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) is responsible for managing the country’s borders. It allows or denies access to the country to foreigners holding visas.
- The Immigration and Refugee Board (IRB) is the federal administrative tribunal with jurisdiction over immigration to Canada.
What are the guarantees that my application will be accepted?
The Government of Canada sets the frameworks for each of the dozens of immigration programs available. An immigration professional will present your application in light of the Act and regulations. While acting in a manner that maximizes the chances of success, the Canadian Immigration Regulated Consultant renders professional services with no obligation of results. Only IRCC officers make decisions on each file.
What documents are required for a preliminary assessment of my file?
It is necessary to provide a detailed Curriculum Vitae (with the start and end dates of the studies, the degree obtained and the various jobs held), a copy of the first page of the passport, a brief description of the family situation and the results of the language evaluation if available.
How Does The Agent Make His Decision? What Is He Or She Basing It On?
In general, immigration programs are based on a point system. The grid is determined according to the objective of the program. The more points a candidate obtains, the more likely he (she) is to have his (her) application accepted. Other factors are also taken into account.
Does obtaining a visa guarantee my entry into Canada?
A visa issued by an officer at an office abroad does not guarantee your entry into Canada. The visa certifies that, at the time it is issued, you are qualified to “knock” on the front door to request entry into Canada. A Border Services Officer will do another check when you arrive at the port of entry (border or airport) to verify that you still meet the requirements. Although rare, theoretically, you may be a visa holder and be prohibited from entering Canada.
Do I need to hire an immigration consultant or lawyer to help me with my immigration application?
In principle, no. You are not required to retain the services of a consultant. Files prepared by immigration consultants are not subject to priority or special treatment. Immigration, Refugee and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) does not require you to be represented by a representative. However, the Canada Immigration Act and Regulations are so complex that it is to your advantage to avoid making mistakes that may harm you later on.
Can I re-apply if my first application was declined?
If your car breaks down on the road, you try to find out what caused it. If you have failed on your first attempt, you need to know why. We can help you see clearly and correct what needs to be corrected. All your information is recorded in a Global Case Classification System. This means that authorities can keep track of your case history. It is important to avoid making new applications blindly.
